Psychotherapy
Members of our staff are available to see individuals,
couples, families and groups who are experiencing difficulty
in certain areas of their lives and who feel the need
for professional help.
Spiritual Direction
We understand spiritual direction as the development
of a relationship whose primary focus is to facilitate
an individuals journey with God. Professionally
trained spiritual directors are available to those who
desire this service on a short term or on-going basis.
Internships
Spiritual Direction
From an awareness of the need for qualified spiritual
directors, the Claret Center has developed an internship
process to fine-tune the abilities of spiritual directors.
This nine-month process happens on a one-day per week
basis allowing interns to continue ministerial and work
responsibilities.
Psychotherapy Practicum
The counseling staff directs an eleven-month internship
in psychotherapy. This practicum is designed to help
graduate students in psychology develop their therapeutic
skills through close supervision in a service-oriented
setting.
Workshops
Aware of the need for continuing education, Claret Center
staff, sometimes with the help of professional personnel
from the Chicago area, offers several workshops and
seminars throughout the year.
Retreats
Claret Center has accommodations for persons desiring
either directed or private retreats. The spiritual direction
staff is available for individually directed retreats
throughout the year. Some staff members are willing
to lead retreats for individuals and for groups in your
choice of setting.
Consultation
Claret Center offers consultation
upon request. This service includes group facilitation
in such areas as leadership skills, conflict management
and effective decision-making skills. Major superiors,
councils and parish staffs and other small groups may
find this service particularly helpful.
Movement and Dance Therapy
Movement and dance therapy is a body-orientated psychotherapy. The basis is humanistic psychology in which the body, the spirit and the soul of the human being create a unity. MDT works with the very, very old healing-power of dance and movement. MDT offers the chance to learn, to know, to accept and to love one’s own being, to discover behavior patterns from the past and from the present and thus to understand, to order and to integrate the now conscious realizations into one’s daily life. MDT is a way to own the depth of one’s personality in all areas; it facilitates attentiveness and it can help develop self-esteem. When one engages in MDT one develops the potential for a life of taking responsibility for oneself with deep joy.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy helps to alleviate stress and tension from our daily life. It aids in the relief of muscle strains and soreness. It increases the oxygen flow through the body. Overall, Massage Therapy has a therapeutic effect on the body, mind and spirit. It leaves a person feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
