Psychotherapy
Individuals, Couples, Groups, Families

Psychotherapy is a process, the heart of which involves the development of a trustworthy relationship between a client and therapist. Through creation of a safe, non-judgmental environment we support the development of a client’s connection with his/her self and toward mutually enriching relationships with others. This interpersonal process involves both the awareness and transformation of one’s usual (or typical) ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. Client and therapist cooperate in shifting patterns that may be unhealthy or maladaptive toward patterns that are more resourceful and useful.

While our staff comes from a variety of theoretical orientations, we share a belief in our client’s innate ability to move toward increased well being. This means greater self-acceptance and understanding, more satisfying choices, expanded emotional availability and an enhanced capacity to love, work, and play.

Psychotherapy can benefit anyone seeking to:

  • Increase freedom from anxiety
  • Increase freedom from depression
  • Limit addictive and compulsive behaviors
  • Improve capacity for intimate relationships
  • Experience individual growth
  • Heal emotional wounds
  • Break out of stuck patterns
  • Live more fully and consciously
  • Create balance
  • Improve communication
  • Explore leadership
  • Integrate sexuality and spirituality

Group Therapy

There are several therapy groups offered at Claret Center which provide a powerful and provocative vehicle for healing and growth. When we gather together we harness the combined strength and wisdom of the members of the group.

It can be a primary therapeutic approach or it works well in conjunction with individual therapy or spiritual direction.

In our therapy groups members experience:

  • A supportive, benevolent and challenging community.
  • Multiple mirrors in which to see oneself as well as the different members and the group leaders.
  • An opportunity to explore issues related to relationships and interpersonal style, self esteem, sibling and family dynamics, stages of life, identity and sexuality.

Psychological Testing and Assessment

Claret Center offers a battery of personal interview, objective and projective testing. We can can tailor our testing assessment protocols to your particular interests and needs: candidates for religious life, individuals, children and adolescents.
