About Us

Our History

Claret Center was founded in September 1979. It was a project envisioned by two Formation Directors who were becoming aware of the needs of formation communities in the Chicago area. There was a dual need for trained spiritual directors who were aware of sound psychological principles as well as professional psychotherapists who acknowledged and supported spiritual values. Marty Kirk, CMF, a spiritual director and Mary Ellen Moore, SH, a psychologist, called together a group of spiritual directors and psychotherapists to offer their respective services on a part-time basis.

Today, Claret remains committed to its initial vision - a professional quality of service in the areas of Spiritual Direction, Psychotherapy, Complementary Body Therapies, on-going reflection on the integration of these disciplines and Related Educational Experiences regarding these areas through workshops and training programs.
